Exactly 42 years, 7 Months, and 22 Years ago from the date 08/23/2025 was the first public use of the internet (allegedly). The first website recorded from the internet and still accessible today is on the wayback machine. Taken at almost midnight of October 29th 1996, is the BBC’s webpage. Here you can find it linked, though not much was saved. The internet was invented by Tim Berners-Lee, born in 1955, he worked with Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn. They developed TCP and IP in the 1970’s which established the standard for how data is transmitted across networks, effectively creating the “network of networks.”
